The Interior Designer’s key responsibilities include visualising and sketching design plans as per client goals, sourcing products and materials, determining costs and inspecting construction to ensure alignment with design specifications are met. You will also be expected to comply with the regulatory environment around inspections and building codes.
Good Interior Designers are able to think creatively about the use of space, colour and movement and will draw on other artistic mediums for creative inspiration. They will also be effective communicators with the ability to present a design idea.
You will immediately be involved in the delivery of a major scheme.
Involvement in client meetings at initial briefing.
Preparation of schemes in response to client briefings, with fully costed material and FF&E specifications.
Delivery of proposed design specification to agreed budget and timescale.
Site inspection and sign off prior to handover.
Outline client design objectives.
Conceptualise and sketch design plans.
Determine cost of completion and project requirements in the budgeting phase.
Set a timeline for the completion of an interior design project.
Source materials and products included in plans.
Create ‘mood boards’ to sample your design vision.
Utilise computer applications in the design process.
Inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met.
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or equivalent.
2+ years work experience in a relevant role.
Portfolio of design work.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop and Excel.
Experience in costing project specification and delivering to budget.
UK driving license.
Highly creative, imaginative and artistic.
Dog lovers and cake bakers will be at an advantage!
